Krødsherad is located at the foot of Norefjell, in the middle of Buskerud county.
The area has a beautiful nature combining lakes and mountains, woodlands and
mountain wilds, and lovely cultural landscapes.
In Krødsherad you live in beautiful surroundings within short distance to several cities such as
Hønefoss, Drammen and Kongsberg – and only 1,5 hours from Oslo and Gardermoen airport.
Krødsherad has a good variety of volunteer clubs and associations, choirs and musical groups, for
everybody from small children to senior citizens.

In Krødsherad you have many opportunities to enjoy the good moments out in the nature. In all parts of our community you can freely roam the countryside and mountains both summer and winter by foot, ski, bike or horeseback. There are also great beaches around the lake where you can take a swim or use a boat.

 

A good and safe childhood and adolescence





Krødsherad has three nursery schools, two run by the local administration and one
private. Krødsherad can provide room for all applicants. We have two small primary
schools, grade 1-7, and one secondary school, grade 8-10. They are well equipped and
have access to adjacent swimmingpool and sports centre. Both schools also can provide
room for the children after school from 1.30 pm to 4.45 pm, and on schoolfree weekdays,
where the children can play and do their homework together with qualified personal. The
children can move on to highschools in our neighbour communities, a short bus-ride away.
Krødsherad also offers musical and cultural activities for the children in the evening
where they can learn to play an instrument, join in a play, and so on.

In Krødsherad we take a great pride in providing good health and caretaking
offers. We have good rooms and aparments for both the elderly and the disabled.
If you live at home and are elderly or disabled, we can provide help with housework,
nurses, dinners brought to your home and security health alarms. Our
healthcentre has doctors, health workers, physiotherapy and physical training.

In Krødsherad you will find beautiful places to live, with great views to the lake and the mountains. There are also good accsesions to nice land lots for a reasonable price.

Multiple choices in the labour market

The local administration are the biggest employer in Krødsherad. Further the tourism offers a good variety of jobs. There are also several different industries in Krødsherad, and lately new trades has been started for example ecological food and small scale food producers.

Krødsherad, a beautiful and attractive place to spend your vacation, both summer and winter.
Norefjell is the closest high mountain area to Oslo. 22 downhill ski slopes over a fall of 1010 metres. Norefjell was the site of the VI Winter Olympic Games in 1952. The Norefjell area has well-groomed cross-country trails as well and is a perfect destination for people who want to explore nature by foot, bicycle, canoe or on horseback. In Krødsherad you will also find the huge wooden building Villa Fridheim, the museum railroad “Krøderbanen”, the small ship M/S Kryllingen and several other attractions.
